Fabless (Glossary of Printed Electronic terms)

A company that sells silicon microchips but it does not own its own silicon semiconductor fabrication plant. These plants typically cost several billion dollars to build and operate. Fabless companies outsource manufacture of their silicon microchips to fab-companies, usually in East Asia.
